A few problems this last month with the weather and lack of communications on organised runs, a run was organised to visit Mablethorpe and on the morning of the run the weather was, for some of us, very foggy. Some who were going to go on the run didn't think the weather was good enough to go but others who thought otherwise turned up 5 to 10 mins. Late (because of the fog) to find the organiser had packed it in bang on the time decided for the run. With no phone numbers available for contacts, there were a few angry people on both sides. So we must do better on future organised events. On the second meeting of the month we had a visit from Dave Porter who enlightened us to what was happening in the club, many thanks for your time and patience Dave, keep up the good work! During the evening a young man, Ian, was escorted into the meeting and asked if anyone knew about the whereabouts of a Bonneville that his father used to own, he only gave out the first three letters of the registration number out before the person he had sat next to said "yes I owned that bike four years ago". That person was yours truly. After a talk about the bike and where it now was, with a few photos to be sent by e-mail, a happy young man left the meeting. If you want to sell it Mick, I know a very keen person who would like to buy it! Tim's bowling evening went down very well when sixteen members and friends had a very entertaining evening followed by a buffet. Prize winners were Peter, Ann, Mrs Glovebox and Pat (I'll never live this one down---being beaten by a woman----especially my wife!) Well done all and many thanks to Tim, when's the next one? Many congratulations also to Pat, who with her sister and others managed to raise over £1000 for cancer charities with their Calendar Girl photo shoot. Maybe for donations to the said charities some of the photos can be obtained? Again because of threats of high winds and bad weather another coastal run was abandoned (communications better this time). Pete and my self decided to cut our run down to about 60 mls. This run helped Pete with the "bedding in" of his cylinder head and afterwards tightening down the head bolts after having done repairs to a valve guide. Another mention of the AGM won't go amiss so don't forget it starts at 8-00pm on the 18th January at the Carbrook Hall pub on Attercliffe road. Your input is extremely important. This leaves me wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year, best wishes to all. GLOVEBOX |
