Well that's more or less the last of this year's shows completed, our last one was the Nostell Priory steam show near Wakefield, where the weather was it's usual showery self. So for this year, it was the last time for myself to ride round a grass show ring , which is a condition that I hate even when the grass is dry. This season must have been a good one, for I managed to not throw myself down the road this year, due to my refusal to go in the ring when it's wet. I'll have to remember this next year! Tim will be getting out a list of next years events as soon as he gets to know of them. I hope most of you have, like myself, been taking advantage of the "Indian Summer", we've been having towards the end of September by getting yourself around and about on your bike(s) and enjoying the good weather. To me the big disadvantages have been the extremeness of the heat and the shortness of the daylight hours. I don't think I've sweated as much this late on in the year but I think we shouldn't grumble and be thankful for small mercies. By now most of us will be thinking about our projects for this winter and sorting out the problems that we've come across during the summer and hoping for a trouble free start up for next spring. My promise to myself is to get my T100R Daytona un-sorned and get it back on the road and just not the parade ring. This means a new pair of carburettors and new front fork seals so hopefully not too much midnight oil to be burnt this winter! Finally, I would like to mention the outcome and further progress into meeting up with an old friend from my teenage years (53 years ago), Pete managed to call in after visiting relatives up around the York area, it was as if there had been no years in between our meetings and the years, all 53 of them rolled back, as if it was only yesterday. Tales, past, present and in between were told, the only differences were the ages, lack of hair and thicker middles. A very pleasant and worthwhile reunion, many, many thanks again to Sue and John Allen of the Norfolk branch for their work in making this reunion possible. THANK YOU. Make the best of the good weather for they are forecasting that this winter will come early and be as bad as last year. GLOVEBOX
