YORKSHIRE ROSE NEWSLETTER – June 2011

Congratulations are in order to Richard and Nichola for their part taken in the moped challenge from John O'Groats to Land's End where they took part in the final section relay. Nichola was the unlucky person who did most of her stint in the pouring rain. Between them Richard and Nichola collected around £800 pound in sponsorship for the Help the Heroes charity, well done to you both.

The final leg from Land's End to home, 360mls, was completed in one session accompanied by Tim and Steve who had gone down to cheer them on over the last leg. These are serious bikers, congratulations to you all.

Carrying on the serious biker scene, Nichola and Richard organised a Sunday run down to Froghall in north Staffordshire where eight riders met at Owler Bar and Nichola led the way across Derbyshire with Richard taking the "tail end Charlie" position. At Froghall we met up with some old friends (John and Mick with their partners) and later on Tim also arrived. Tea and buns were enjoyed at the station cafe and after watching a steam train arrive and depart, I departed myself for a straight forward route home whilst the others took a longer way back. Even though the traffic was heavy on the road back, with the weather being fine, it turned out to be a very good run.

Easter Sunday arrived with cloudy but fine weather where a dozen of us (see photo below) joined another 700+ riders (reported) which really looked like 1000 on the annual Easter Egg Run to Sheffield Children's Hospital led by James Toseland ( this time in the lead police car because of a broken wrist). Our contingent handed over £107, for the Hospital funds, which we had collected. Thanks to all who participated and donated.

Now just a reminder of our Concours night which takes place at the Carbrook Hall pub on Attercliffe road Sheffield on the 15th of June from 6-30pm onwards. All who enter their bikes for judging will be entitled to a free buffet.

Take advantage of the good dry weather and like the other riders at the beginning of the report get your bikes out and use them!
