| I would like to report that since the AGM everything has now been set up so that Richard Davies has now been able to take over as the web-site co-ordinator for Yorkshire Rose (yorkshirerosetomcc.co.uk). He has already started work on the site and has updated several parts, in particular, our latest Landmark Challenge, which this year, he has set. This involves visiting several brewing establishments around Yorkshire and surrounding areas. Because this covers all areas of the compass in Yorkshire, we hope many more members will give the challenge a try. All the details are listed on the web site under Landmarks and can be downloaded, so good luck and happy travels. The forthcoming rally at Kelling Heath is going to prove very interesting for myself, because in my long distant youth (53 years ago) when I was 17-18, I spent several holidays in and around Sherringham, the first trip was made on a push bike and I don't think I've ridden one since. The next year was a little easier, when myself and two mates (Dennis and Graham) went down on two T100's, (I was on pillion, boo-hoo!) with all our camping gear and not too much money. Straight away we met up with two Norfolk lads from nearby Weybourne who were on a T110 and a great holiday friendship was struck up between the five of us. Most of the holiday was spent with some very competitive riding between the Fakenham Arms in Sherringham and the Ship at Weybourne, where copious amounts of "scrumpy" were consumed, not an ideal beverage when riding bikes. Needless to say our limited stocks of money soon ran out, there were no such things as" holes in the walls" in those days (neither bank accounts for 18 year olds) but Dave and Pete "bank rolled" us for the last few days of our holiday and even loaned us a couple of quid to buy petrol to get home (petrol 4s /3d a gallon). With a promise that we would come down again at Christmas and give them a good time, we set off home. Dennis and myself returned at Christmas to return the favour and the following week was spent with not many minutes sober for the four of us at Dennis and my expense. Oh happy days! With the two Norfolk lads being Royal Navy artificers in Scotland we lost touch with them but it's nice to think we may meet up again. Dave's surname has gone with the years but because of Pete's nickname I remember him as Pete "Splint" Woodyard who lived in Weybourne. Yes, It's going to be a trip down memory lane. Until we meet again GLOVEBOX.
