| Early Sept a group of us attended the NABD event in Stocksbridge. Stuart arranged & ran this & very professional he was too. MC & myself camped over in his garden accompanied by his sheep! Dunno how it got in my tent officer, honest!! Glad we supported this as all the money raised went directly to bikers with disabilities & I ended up with a new leather jacket. No headaches the following morning (yes, even MC) & many thanks to Stuart & missus for their kind hospitality. Three of us attended the Rotherham Show. A slow run around the town lead us to the venue although by mid afternoon we decided that enough was enough & left. PS - Most people tried to get in front of me as I was leaving a ‘fog’ behind but more on this later!! Annual BBQ We were blessed with a fine, warm weekend for this. Some of the hardier ones amongst us spent Friday night there but the remainder turned up Sat. Thanks to PetefromBrid for coming down just for the evening then riding back (work) & to Lightweight Lee who came up from darn sarf. Nice to see Dennis there & hope you enjoyed it mate? At least he now knows how some of the clubs funds are being spent!! Plenty of food & beer were consumed accompanied by loud (who said dubious!) music. Animal & I danced the night away although I believe he would have danced with anything at that point. I was told that one of the young girls present thought we were ‘freaky’. I’ll take that as a compliment thankyou. Animal did however succumb to Captain Morgans influence big style!! Someone said they were positive they saw him trying to teach a horse how to tango!!!! Lee missed all the fun as he retired to his tent & went to sleep – that’s why we call him Lightweight. Moving on, I have decided that it is time to strip the Trident as she is burning a hell of a lot of oil & its become quite an embarrassment. The engine is now in bits but the crank is on its last re-grind & is shot. Also the rods reveal it as having lead a hard past life. Initial searches for a crank have given me some options but none of them cheap! This is a pitfall of running one of Meridens finest as when they need major surgery it ain’t cheap. I have ordered new rods from MAP in the states shhh, don’t tell Easy. These are top quality & although not cheap, the exchange rate means that they are a good buy. At the end of Sept a group of us are going to Skipton for the weekend. No doubt the beer will flow so all will be revealed next issue. By the time you read this Fiery One will have had her run as she’s going to Whitby. The Trident won’t be ready for then so I’ll be giving that one a miss. That’s all for now folks, ride safe.
