YORKSHIRE ROSE NEWSLETTER – MAY 2007

Rhyl Nine of us went over to Rhyl in three groups. Animal lead 4 of us on the ‘alternative’ Route 66 (a bus route from Chesterfield!!) with Lee from New Zealand, ex-chairman Pete & myself. Initially wet although we rode over there mostly enjoying some fine, dry roads & extremely enjoyable it was. Dennis went in his car with MC, Stig & Steve joining us later – in the wet!! PetefromBrid was also in attendance with PeterNick & another drinking partner who’s name escapes me!

Both nights were brilliant, meeting up with some nutters from the Glasgow branch & what a fine crowd they turned out to be. Unfortunately York Rose can no longer lay claim to being the ‘last branch out of the bar’ as on both nights, the Scots were there to the last. MC over indulged yet again to such an extent that he remained on soft drinks for the rest of the weekend!!

Nanaman & missus came over for the AGM, this being the best attended so far & I thought it was very constructive.

Steve did the Welsh rally on Sat getting soaked in the process – well done. Lee went to visit relatives on Sat also getting soaked. He was a little ‘put out’ though as they weren’t in when he got there!! That’s what telephones are for mate.

Sunday found a group joining the run to the Thundersprint of which they enjoyed immensely.

Animal set off home very early – good job you didn’t get breathalysed mate!! He was home before it rained. I waited until my brekkie had settled & was caught in torrential rain coming out of Macclesfield. My waterproof over suit kept me dry but my 100% water proof boots didn’t. The bloody things let water in but wouldn’t let it out again!! Others came home after Thundersprint or on Monday but all enjoyed a very good weekend.

PfromB & PeterNick had a very long, wet ride home & met some of the Glasgow lot en-route. He swears blind that they didn’t really know where they’d been that weekend. We’re looking forward to meeting up with them again in the future.

Whats coming up……………?

Our 25th Anniversary Concours Show is our biggie this being on the 20th June. All are welcome to attend.

There’s the Classic Bike Burn Up at Cadwell on the 23rd, Sheff Steam 23/24 & July 14th is Festival of 1000Bikes.

Apologies for anything I’ve missed but I must go & sort out my plumbing. No, not in house, on Nourish – yes, I’m at it again!!
