YORKSHIRE ROSE NEWSLETTER – AUGUST 2007

I’m pleased to report that August was a better month. As I predicted, only a couple of members attended Masham. Shame as although the ground was wet, the weekend blessed them with reasonable weather.

As ever Stigs been the busiest member & hats off to him for the Cullingworth Bike Show. Our club had a fare turn out on the Sat helped by the fact that MC & fiery One delayed their intended hol to attend. Sun however was very disappointing with only one member turning up on a bike & that was Bo Peep. Well done Stig for toughing it out & to those members who didn’t (and I am one!) lets make sure we’re there next time please.

Again only a couple went to Pickering but they reported an excellent show but numbers in general, way down on last year – no surprise really.

Beezumph.

This is without doubt the highlight of the year so far. Again, numbers were down & not helped by the fact that Pete from Brid came down with Ghandis revenge! He swears blind that dodgy fish n chips were the cause & departed for home & the comfort of his own bog Sat. Many thanks go to Glovebox & Tim for providing somewhere to shelter from the rain, numerous cups of coffee & a decent cooked breakfast. Rain aside, the track time was dry with some wonderful machines out there many getting hammered around the track. The sound of those racing triples is really something else. Anyone who hasn’t savoured it is really missing out. During one of the ‘race’ sessions I witnessed an amazing tussle between an MV & a blue triple. Those ‘boys’ were really getting stuck in braking at the last minute, taking the tightest lines in the corners – superb. As I walked back through the pits I recognised the helmet of the MV rider. It was none other then Mick Grant who did in fact lose out to the Triumph. The side cars were interesting too as there was a CBX outfit with a 6 into 1 that could be heard wherever it was on the track. An unusual Norton Rotary outfit too who left the pits & only realised his passenger was absent when he hit the first bend – oh dear! The Sat night band & BBQ were excellent & pics on our website will no doubt reveal that some of us (me included) were a little worse for wear!! I wasn’t helped over the weekend by the fact my tent leaked so that was left in a bin when I departed.

Stig & MC went from Cadwell to Lincoln for the steam show. Unfortunately MC’s T160 broke down on the way home, his intermittent mis-fire returned & left him awaiting recovery.

By the time you read this we’ll have been to the local NABD event in Stocksbridge & at the end of Sept we are having a weekend away somewhere further ‘up north’.
