| First off this month was Barrys (the banned) scenic Derbyshire Run. The weather was good & we had a great turn out as he took us down roads I never knew existed. He managed to keep us all together & his stop offs were well timed & enthusiastically welcomed! I parted company with them at the Cat & Fiddle but I know I speak for all who attended in saying that it was most enjoyable. The Big Breakfast. 10 of us set off on a sunny Sat & had a steady run over to Wem in Shropshire meeting up with ‘Duckhams’ & Jane in Buxton on the way. Fiery One was on her new Bonneville & we took in some good roads & fabulous scenery en-route & we failed to lose anyone even ourselves! After a good night out (plenty of beer & curry) & a hearty breakfast the next morning we enjoyed the biggest turn out I have witnessed at the Midway Truckstop. Bananaman met us at Froghall Station on the way back & again we had the best weather so far this year – a good weekend of which I believe MC didn’t disgrace himself (for once!!). I must however mention this one little incident & that was that I broke down. Yes, my Mighty One fired up then died after calling at a local watering hole. The problem?? The nut had worked loose on the ignition pick up – there, happy now??!! Someone commented that Fiery 1’s bike handled & went well & all she said was that she had been attempting to chase three thirty year old Tridents all weekend!! Nuff said yer honour. Oh, before I close on this subject……..someone who shall remain nameless suffered BIG style with Gandhis revenge on the Sunday. I’m sure you don’t want me to go into further detail but he was very relieved (correct terminology??) to reach home & the comfort of his own closet – oops, slip of the fingers there folks!! Animal has been over & has set me up with administrator access for our website. A big, BIG thankyou to him for looking after this in the past but his workload now makes it almost impossible for him to carry on. Allow me to offer excuses before I begin as this isn’t as easy a job as you might think so please bear with me as I attempt to update stuff. MC has taken a bike safe course. Basically it involves being followed by a police rider who advises you on your riding technique. He found it very interesting, enlightening & enjoyable but suffered an unfortunate incident on the way home yes, he broke down! His fan failed & so he boiled his radiator. It doesn’t appear to have caused any damage to the motor so once he has parted with some cash (& I’m sure this won’t be an insignificant amount!!) he will be up & running again. The Egg Run for the Sheffield Childrens Hospital was a great success. James Toseland attended to show his support for this event & apart from my T150 running a ‘trifle hot’, it was enjoyable. Seeing the faces of those poorly kids (some very) makes it an extremely worthwhile cause. Our members raised over £700 so well done to all & thankyou for your valuable contributions. Don’t forget the 20th June as its our 25th Anniversary Concours Night at the Carbrook. Kick off 6.30pm & all bikes welcome. Ok, I’ve probably forgotten some stuff & apologies to those things I have missed but I will close now. Our events page is updated & these including runs are forthcoming so those with access, keep your eyes on it. Those without, ask some bugger!! Ride safe. Ttfn Rubbermick
