YORKSHIRE ROSE NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2006

Phew, what a month!!

Quite a few of us attended the Manx GP. The hardy ones amongst us (some may say otherwise!) decided we would camp. MC, Fiery 1 & kids took car & 2 bikes on their trailer. Dave & Barry the Banned (they were in a B&B) took a van with their bikes & some of our gear - cheers mate, we wouldn't have been half as comfortable if it wasn't for you!! Too much to ramble on about here but I will mention just one or two interesting events. MC assured us he had finally sorted Fiery 1's sooty plug problem so on Sunday we set off to Casteltown for the VMCC meet. This didn't go exactly to plan as the afformentioned 500 died on her. Plugs out, cleaned & checked - intermittent spark. Distributor cleaned, checked & bingo, she was back in business. Some amazing bikes on show bathed glorious sunshine. Had a run round after ending at Douglass where MC was 'impressed'?? (worrying this) by a certain 'lady' sitting in a bus shelter. This 'lady' had a chin that Desperate Dan would have been proud of & wore an extremely iffy syrup on her/his head!! Yes, it was male!!!!

Ian & Jane joined us arriving on his rather smoky T160 - we thought it was foggy but the aroma of Duckhams gave them away as out of the smog they appeared!! PS - they are now TOMCC members. Attended the TOMCC meet at The Waterfall Hotel where again, a fabulous turn out of m/c's. Fred & Sylvia were mingling whilst Barry (the B) was judge & executioner (no, none of us got a look in!!). I think he didn't know quite what to pick out as there were so many fine examples to choose from. We left before the winners were announced due to an impending BBQ (& beer!!). I believe one of our members upset Fred somewhat as he was attempting to announce the winners but was somewhat thwarted by a rather nice sounding T150 - sorry mate!! I was sat on my bike feeling rather smug as this lady took pics of me from different angles. I then realised she was taking pics of my bloody helmet & not the bike - DOH!! During the BBQ we were also joined by Bo Peep (& friend!!) who was staying nearby. We had a good night with beer & wine flowing freely.

One last little item I feel I must mention before I change subjects is again about Barry the B…….he broke down. Those of you who know me realise that I wouldn't normally mention something so trivial but (shame on you Barry) he attempted to hide the fact by instructing the recovery vehicle to drop him & the bike off at the end of the street & not outside the B&B. Yes, you guessed it, he was seen. The recovery vehicle was left hand drive & as he sat in the passenger seat he was spotted by Dave as they sped to the end of the road. I will close on this subject now by stating that we all had a brilliant time but for more detail, look on our website as there will be a full, in depth report.

The following w/end we attended Beezumph 15 where some of the bikes have to be seen to be believed!!. We enjoyed fabulous weather, had a BBQ on Fri night & I believe we have attracted a new member or two. Ian took his bike on the track (think we should nickname him Duckhams!) & retired with a bust throttle cable on Fri but managed a full if not smoky day on Sat! The BBQ was excellent & the band better than last year. Unfortunately Clarrie disgraced herself by being 'rather ill' during the early hours of the morning. Animal was not amused as she proceeded to bring everything up that she had consumed during the evening. Normally he would have let her get on with it but she was still in her sleeping bag!!! I won't go into any more detail but pics will be posted on our website for those of you who may be interested.

I had a chat with a couple of members from Wales who we met at Rhyl & we agreed what a good w/end it had been. Whilst on the subject of this, why oh why can't the TOMCC give us something similar? I realise that the TRO3 are 'old hands' at this sort of thing but there must surely be many members of the TOMCC who would attend? Rant over.

Before I sign off I must welcome a new member who attended our club night, welcome Ian from Royston. Hope we didn't put you off as we did go 'on a bit'!!
