YORKSHIRE ROSE NEWSLETTER – JUNE 2006

A few shows to report on (& NOT as it turned out) this month. Mystery Collector & Fiery One attended the BMF buying as usual but not bikes this time, clobber. We were all looking forward to spending the weekend at Onca but this was cancelled due extremely heavy rain turning the ground into a quagmire. Takers for the Post TT at Mallory were few (2 to be exact) but Stig & I decided to give it a miss as we had both fallen behind with 'other jobs'. To be honest, I'm glad we didn't go as it was boiling hot! It would have been rather uncomfortable to say the least spending all day melting in leathers. We had a good turn out for the RNLI show in Sheffield with some very nice bikes turning up. Animal made the show in the afternoon & he may have the 'Mighty One's' head sorted but he was struggling with the one on his shoulders. No, nothing to do with rum intake, he had returned from his hols in the early hours. I've heard on the grapevine that not only has Animal taken to lovingly caressing the Mighty One's head he's also made a recording of her using this to ease him into the land of nod!! Stig took his H**da Chalet (the show was supposed to be for bikes mate!) & Barry came on his Sports Cub. I mention this because Barry decided to take the Chalet for a spin around our display - big mistake. He lost control big time & nearly demolished the picnic table! Mind you, She Who Must Be Obeyed had a little trundle on it prior & she also lost it. Lucky she fell off when she did because there was a lovely 500 Goldie directly in her path. The Chalet shrugged all this off no problem although SWMBO didn't escape unscathed badly bruising herself. I don't think we made any friends with this debacle though as a few of the other exhibitors were none to pleased!

MC has sorted his T160 after suffering the potential curse of all Triple owners that is the Trident pullrod syndrome. Yes, it broke & punched a neat hole out of the primary.

I've been busy (still am) fitting a later (T140/T160) instrument binnacle to the T150. All this started after I'd bought an oil pressure gauge mount then realising that it fitted between the later binnacle. Its not as straight forward as you might think as it means fitting T140 speedo & rev counter cables. I only have the birds nest of wiring to sort now.

I've also been busy preparing for our Concours Night which we hold on June 21st - yes, its gone now. On our website we give our sponsors some advertising in return for them providing some prizes for this event. We have a special guest agreeing to attend this year. None other than Mr Norman Hyde (Norman to his friends!!) so I will tell all in next months issue.

A few of us are going to Whitby for the weekend shortly so again, I will divulge all next month. The burning question here is will MC embarrass himself - again??!!

We are also considering going to the Thunderbird Rally held by B&W branch.

Hope the weather holds for later.

Ttfn
